Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you use ScreenTaste, we store:

• Account: email and password (hashed, via Supabase Auth).
• Profile: name, username, avatar, privacy settings.
• Library: titles, statuses, reactions and private notes.
• Optional onboarding answers (birth year, favorite genres) — private, used only to improve recommendations.
• Social graph: follows, blocks, invites.
• Technical logs (IP address, request timestamps) — for security and rate limiting.

How we use it

Your data powers your library, shows friends only what your privacy settings explicitly expose, computes “friends love it, you haven’t seen it” recommendations, and — only if you connect an AI client over MCP yourself — hands that client a bounded projection of your taste. Private notes and private libraries are never shown to anyone.

Processors we rely on

We use third-party services strictly to run the product:

• Supabase (database hosting and authentication, EU region).
• Vercel (application hosting, EU region).
• Resend (transactional email: confirmations, password recovery).
• TMDB, OMDb, Open Library, Google Books (film/book metadata — none of your personal data is sent to them).
• OpenRouter (AI recommendations: receives title names from your library, never your email or name).

Retention and backups

Data is kept while your account exists. Encrypted database backups are retained up to 30 days (daily) and up to 12 months (monthly snapshots); deleted data leaves the backups when those windows expire.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account entirely. Write to kchabanov3@gmail.com — we respond within 30 days. After deletion your library, profile and social connections are gone for good.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies only: your login session, chosen language and a short-lived beta-access marker. No advertising or cross-site trackers.

Age

The service is intended for users aged 16 and over.
